first of all, I'm a very basic user of Trados. I have translated from a PDF, when I save it, it appears as docx, but I want it in PDF or in trades format. It used to save it in trades format but it is saving in doc, someone knows why? Well, my main question is that, my client wanted me to translate it with trados to respect the format, I have to send it as PDF but I don't know how to do it...if someone can help me...Thank you very much.

Just open the .docx document you got and save it as .pdf within Word. Studio works internally with .docx, not with the .pdf itself, so that's why you have the translated document saved in .docx :)

Had the same doubt and found your messages. If the pdf to be translated is a final artwork to be sent to print, won't firstly saving the target file as docx. and then saving it again as pdf. reduce image quality?

Yes, this workflow not only reduces the images quality but changes de layout, changes the fonts, probably adds carriage returns that don't exist.
The best workflow is to translate the source file of the PDF.
