What's the best way to map between a help authoring project and a new Studio project?

We're brand new Studio users. Our help authoring environment, Help and Manual (H+M), is one of the many second-tier help environments out there. They recommend translation memory and rate Trados Studio top of their list of options.

A H+M file, the translatable portion, resides in XML files.

How do we map a H+M project to a Studio project? There is a defined H+M project folder structure:

  • Root: contains the H+M project file in a proprietary format; the project's XSL stylesheet file; the project's XSD schema definition file.
  • Maps: contains XML table of contents (TOC)
  • Topics: one XML file for each topic on the TOC
  • Baggage: extra files required for templates and skins used for publishing the help file; proprietary
  • IMAGES: every image in the help file; usual bitmap image file formats - jpg, png, tiff, etc.

I know from a previous translation foray that Studio brings in an H+M project, and after translation, can re-package everything such that we can simply drop it into a new H+M folder for the translated help docs.

But how is this done?
