extract embedded excel files

Trados Studio 2017 does not extract embedded excel files from a Word 2016 document. The option is marked in both project and general settings.

  • Hi ,

Perhaps the embedded excel files are not XLSX? This will only work if the Excel files are not binary. You may also find you have a problem manually correcting them as I believe Microsoft made a change in their latest file format and you can't get at the excel files themselves anymore. You used to be able to unzip the DOCX and get at them, but when I spoke to a Microsoft engineer about this at the start of this year he was perplexed as to why this was a problem and felt that users should not be able to edit them at all so they "safely" tucked them away where you can't get at them!
