Converting an .sdlxliff source file into a .docx file

Question

I need to create samples of my work as Microsoft Word documents, which means I need to turn the .sdlxliff source files I get from customers into .docx files. Is there a way to do this? My version of Trados is 2015.

If they were originally Word source files then you may be able to simply open the SDLXLIFF and save the target file. If your customer didn't embed the Word source into the SDLXLIFF this won't be possible I'm afraid unless you also have a copy of the source file.

 Just open it in Studio using the single file translation command where you can select a file and open it for translation immediately without going through the project wizard. Then when it's open in the editor just press Shift+F12 , (or File -> Save target as ). That will save the target file in it's native format. 
 But note what I said earlier. If the original file was not embedded into the SDLXLIFF you won't be able to do this without the original source file too, so it just depends how the SDLXLIFF was prepared. In my experience you can do this with most SDLXLIFF files.

I know this question is now old, but I stumbled across it while looking for a solution, so here goes ... 
 
 This method works well if you have more than one file, and exporting them one by one could get tedious: 
 
 In the Files view, select all the files you want to export 
 Right-click 
 Batch tasks>Export files 
 Next 
 By default, Target version is selected. That's what you want, so leave this. 
 Choose the folder where you want to save the files. 
 Click Finish
