problem with translated file

Hi all,

I finished translated one document. When uploading the next file to translate, which is 90 percent similar to the previously translated file, sdl translated only about 1% of it.

What do I do wrong?

Thanks

  • Have you updated the Translation Memory after having translated the first file? Are all segments in the first file confirmed?
Are the files identical or just similar and the differences may result from different formatting?
Your main error now is not telling us all the relevant information: what kind of files are these? Which version of Studio do you use? This is necessary, because the crystal ball in this forum has been broken many years ago...

  • I have updated the memory and all the segments are confirmed. the 90% I was writing about represent identical content. Not even a simple comma differ in the two files. Both files are docs and, furthermore produced by the same person on the same computer. I am using studio 2017. I might also add that in some previous cases, with another translation project, it went smoothly when automatically translating the identical segments from two different docx files.
Sorry for the crystal ball :)
  • No prob, I know now what I need.
If you open the second file for translation in Studio, do you see the translations coming from the TM? This would mean, something was not OK with the pretranslation process. If not, then something with the update process did not work. What I suppose is, that you accidentally used project TM in your first project. To make sure all translation is really in your main TM, return to the previous project and run the batch task "Update Main TM". Then check again - and make sure you are not using project TM in the second project.
