Trados 2014 stopped working

Good Morning everyone,

For some reason my Trados 2014 Freelance SP2 software has stopped working for a reason that I cannot work out. I can open the program fine, create a project in exactly the same way as I have been doing for years, using exactly the same kinds of files (simple Word 97-2003 docs, because Trados 2014 for some reason never allows docx files). As soon as I open the editor, however, the whole program freezes, task manage says it is inactive and there is no other option but to close it in task manager.

I have tried reinstalling the program twice now, to no avail. My windows firewall has it on the safe list and I have made no changes to my computer. Does anybody have any idea what might be causing this and how to solve it? It is highly frustrating! I would be very grateful for any tips.

Thanks and have a great day,

Jeremy

  • Hello Steven,
Thank you for your prompt reply. I have tried what you suggested - opening a new, single file. That worked and Studio did not freeze (thus far).
However, if I try and open a single file with a newly created translation memory saved in a different placce than usual, the editor screen freezes immediately.
Every time I start Studio a window appears asking if I will allow the app to make changes on my hard disk. This didn't used to happen. Perhaps that is the crux of the issue now?
Regarding the projects - because I have now reinstalled the program at least 3 times and have also carried out the reset, there are no longer any projects saved in the projects list. I have also tried to create a new project, initially with just one file in, and with a completely newly created TM, that also does not work.
Any further help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Jeremy
