  • While I agree with you that it's not SDL's fault that 3rd party apps are not updated, I believe that the necessity to create updated app exists just because of some SDL design flaw.

    I simply cannot believe that it's really absolutely necessary need to update something if the API calls used by the apps did not change. And since the API is backward compatible, anything what used to work in older version still works the same in newer version.
    Just like a Word macro or Excel add-in using functionality from Office 2013 still works without any change in Office 2016.

    Unfortunately, I'm not skilled in enough in the .Net hell to be sure and have any proofs.
    All I have is my common sense... Can you imagine e.g. the hundreds/thousands of AutoCAD plugins having to be rebuilt just because Autodesk decides to use newer .Net Framework in new AutoCAD version?!
