How to upgrade quickly a huge tmx?

Question

I've been upgrading very big tmx, I mean stuff from the DGT, Wikipedia, etc, etc... And I notice, upgrading these memories to Trados 2017, takes a lot of time, specially building the translation model. Can I do something about this? Thanks!

If you have a copy of Studio 2015 you can upgrade to an SDLTM without upLift and this speeds it up a lot but since 2017 and 2019 enforce the upLift you can't avoid the long processing time. 
 
You could import the TM instead of upgrading it and this would be faster. So create a new TM in the language direction you want and then import the TM instead of upgrade. You can then use the TM for lookup and leave your computer running at a more convenient time to uplift it later.
