Bilingual translation

Hi, can i upload two seperate files, one in English format and the other in Arabic format, so can i make match for translation, instead of translating the English version manually.

Also my second question is about the layout of the Invoice, when exporting the translated file, the layout of the Invoice is not as the original invoice

    if I have understood correctly, you have an original English file (MS Word? MS Excel?) and an already translated file in Arabic (MS Word? MS Excel?), right?

    In this case, what about creating a MS Excel bilingual file copying and pasting original English text in column “A”, and the already pertinent translated Arabic text in column “B”?

    In this way you will obtain a bilingual MS Excel file that you can manage using the Studio “Bilingual Excel file type”.

    I mean… suppose you have two MS Word files like these (it’s just an example extracted from an Arabic DTP job I’m carrying out):

    And that you copied and pasted it in a MS Excel file:

    As said before, you may load this Bilingual MS Excel in Studio 2017 or 2019 using the “Bilingual Excel file type”). This should work also in Studio 2015, but I do not remember if Studio 2015 had the same “Bilingual Excel file type”).

    Moreover, this allows you to create a translation memory.

    Regarding your second question, I have not understood it. Could you be clearer?

    Thanks for your reply. Regarding my first question, I have an excel file that contains in column A the English words and in Column B the Arabic Words, But when I create a project and upload the file on SDL 2017 both Arabic and English words are coming on the same column in SDL on one side only and not on both sides as you mentioned in your reply.

    About my second question, I have a PDF Invoice, when I upload it on SDL and translated it, when it is saved as word, the word layout of the Invoice is not the same as the PDF layout. some lines are up and down and not shown as the PDF File.

    regarding your first issue, just load the MS Excel file using the “Bilingual Excel file type” to obtain a Studio document with English text in the left column and Arabic text in the right column:

    and DO NOT use the Simple Excel file type.

    But, you first MUST deselect other Excel file types and check “Bilingual Excel file type” or, alternatively, check and prioritize the position of “Bilingual Excel file type” BEFORE other simple Excel file types.

    Concerning your second question, when you load a PDF file in Studio it will be converted in a MS Word format and you must apply possible formatting changes to obtain the same layout of the original PDF file.
