Studio 2019 Single Workflow: language codes in file name?

A Studio 2019 user mentioned to me that the single file workflow does not include the language codes of the project in the file name once finalized. Why is this the case and is it now a setting that can be controlled? The language codes are included in the project and xliff files, but not in, for example a Word document's finalized file name (note: the source doc was a PDF opened in Studio).

Many thanks, Edwin

  • Hi

I got your email explaining to me how "Finalizing" adds the language code.  You are absolutely right and I stand corrected.  I never use that task and it escaped me altogether.  However, I tested this in 2019 and found that if I use the Translate Single Document workflow from the File menu, or Ctrl+Shift+O, then it still behaves the same way:

Screenshot showing a list of files in Trados Studio with file names and extensions, including IT.docx, IT.docx_en-US_de-DE in formats sdlproj, docx, and sldiff.

IT.docx was my source file and the other files were created through that workflow in Studio 2019.

The same thing happens if I use the Dropfiles approach.

Perhaps your users are doing what I always do and simply used save target file?  This never did and still doesn't add the language codes.

    Regards
