Error message: "Abhängige Datei konnte nicht gefunden werden" TRADOS Studio 2017

Dear all,

I have a problem with the above mentioned error message. I already checked all the possible solutions and also tried the path TRADOS provided - the problem is that my colleague startet the project on her personal computer and I am trying to finish it on my computer. There is no possibility to access the original file as her computer is not available due to holidays.

Is there any other possibility to export the final clean file?

Best regards,

Rieke

  • This problem still persists in SDL 2019. All I did was copy the project (ie the entire folder, also containing the original files) from my PC to my Laptop and back as I've done hundreds and hundreds of times before, and now it won't let me save the target version. The file that went missing is apparently in some weird folder outside of my project folder. (\AppData\Local\Temp and then some random letters and numbers followed by.docx)

I might open the whole word file again in a new project and translate it, since the TM seems to be fine, but I would have to merge like hundreds of segments (again), so related question: Is there a command that lets me „merge current source segment with next one“, ideally by one single keyboard shortcut? I do know how to merge segments, but I would like to be able to do the whole Shift+click and then right-click-and-click-merge routine in one go. Possible? If not, why not, and do the trados people read this and will be keen to implement?

  • Well, when asked just point Studio to the source file.

This so called problem is not really a problem and the solution is well known and very simple. So just follow it.

  • The problem is: It doesn't ask. It just gives out the known error message, but lets me keep working if i don't search (also, the file  or temp folder it's looking for isn't there), and later won't let me save the target version, where it just gives another error message about the source file missing - again, doesn't offer to let me point it to the source file. But it is there. At least, there's no condescending, patronizing tone to those error messages. You IT guys always first assume the user's stupid, right?

Anything about the segment merging thing?

  • Of course it does ask. Jus say yes, when the message comes. Then change the name of the file in the right lower corner to for example *.* and navigate to the path, where the source file is. And make sure, your anti-virus software is not emptying the temp folder in your computer. And I am a translator as you are, not an IT guy.

    Just give it a try.
