Slow report loading

Hi, I have Trados Studio 2017 now newly installed on a new laptop (Win10, intel core i7, 16GB  RAM) and whenever I try to load an analysis report, it takes too long. The same goes with confirming a segment, that does not take that long as the analysis loading but I presumed that with the new and more powerful laptop it should be much faster. The first project I worked on was a project sent to me in a package and everything worked absolutely fine, report loading, TMs, all was fast (and there were several TMs from the client plus one large TM that was mine and a large termbase). But now a couple of projects later even the projects from a package created by my client have the same issue. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Do you really mean loading of existing report? Or creating new report, e.g. by running the analysis batch task, as Steven mentions?

Speed of loading of existing report heavily depends on number of individual files included in the report. Loading of 1200+ XML files report took about 30 minutes on my machine. Since Studio is basically single-threaded application, it doesn't really matter how good your machine is, loading a big report simply gets only one core, brings it to 100% (i.e. task manager shows 50% in dualcore machines or 25% on quadcores or dualcores with hyperthreading turned on) and that's it... all you can do is just wait :-\

  • Hi Evzen,
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I mean loading an existing report. The analysis itself is fast but the report loads slowly. I normally have one file or a couple of files. I suspect it might have something to do with my system, perhaps some Windows update or maybe the antivirus update because I didn't have these problems before and I didn't change any Trados settings. However, it is not that slow as you mention so it is not a major trouble, it just bothers me when I'm running out of time.
