What are you expecting AutoCorrect to do that makes you suspect it's not working?

My apologies if this is too basic, but AutoCorrect will not underline misspelled words with a wavy line (Spell Check does that). What AutoCorrect does is, for example, if you set "DNR" to be replaced with "Do Not Resuscitate", when you type "DNR" into your target segment and enter a space, the letters "DNR" will be changed to the full text "Do Not Resuscitate", or if you have an AutoCorrect entry to automatically correct an often mistyped word, such as, say "manana" to "mañana", when you type "manana" it will change it to "mañana". But AutoCorrect will only be triggered if you have the appropriate entries in the list (screenshot below) and if the "Replace text as you type" checkbox is checked. There is no visual indication (like a red wavy line) in the Editor that a word has or will be autocorrected.

Regarding the languages in the list, as Paul has explained, it's just an alphabetical list and the order in which it's shown doesn't depend on the language pair you have selected for your current project, so as long as you have the right entries and the checkbox checked under your language, it doesn't matter that it doesn't show at the top of the list when you open the AutoCorrect pane.

For repeated words, your best bet is the Verification feature, which can give you a warning or error message when repeated words are found in a segment, but again, there will be no actual visual indication in the segment text about this.

Can you check if the Check Spelling button in the ribbon (under the Review tab) is active or greyed out?

There is sometimes an issue with spellchecking for ES-LA and ES-US when using the Word spellchecker in Studio, but there's a workaround with Hunspell.

If the button is greyed out (disabled), do the following:

1. Download the attached files, unzip them and paste them into

C:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio5\HunspellDictionaries (depending on your version of Studio, the folder may be called something else, for example, Studio 15)

When asked if you'd like to replace the existing xml with the one you're pasting in, say yes.

2. Restart Studio, go to Options-Editor-Spelling-Active Spell Checker and select Hunspell instead of Word.

After you do this, the Check Spelling button should now also be active when your target language is ES-LA or ES-US.
