Send selection to machine translation engine?

Question

Is there a way to send only a selection to a machine translation engine? That is, I would like to be able to select some text, anywhere in the editor and send it to DeepL or Google Translate.

Yes, with GT4T you can select part of the target segment and send it to DeepL. Sometimes, I copy only part of the source to the target and send that to DeepL. Followed by another part. For example, when I want to get better control over the structure of the sentence.

Try the weblookup plugin. Not as automated but you could use that to search an MT provider with a web interface based on selected text from the source or target. 
 
We do have a backlog item to look at providing this sort of capability via one of the existing apps, or maybe with a new plugin... but too many other things to get to at the moment so it won't be soon. Might be fairly simple though and I imagine any developer could deliver this if you know one.
