Automatic duplicates in Multiterm within Studio 2017

Hi ,

Since the latest update Studio 2017 SR1 - 14.1.10012.29730 I encounter an issue with Multiterm : when I add a ner term to an existing one the following happens.

1* the original term in source language get multiplied by 3 or 4 = in the picture source was "haarserum"

2* the original target term gets duplicted = in this exemple it was "sérum pour les cheveux"

3* the new term is added correctly.

Screenshot of Trados Studio showing an issue with Multiterm where the source term 'haarserum' is multiplied and the target term 'serum pour les cheveux' is duplicated.

I suppose that there is a bug somewhere. Please help and Thanks in advance :-)

  • Hi Manuella,

It is worth trying that, yes. Open MultiTerm and click on the Help tab then on 'Check for Updates'.

I would recommend then running a Windows Repair on MultiTerm Core and MultiTerm Desktop, and on SDL Studio. Here's how:

    1. Close all SDL applications.
    2. Open the Control Panel:
      • Windows Vista/7Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
      • Windows 8: Right-click on the screen at bottom-left corner and choose Control Panel > Uninstall a Program.
      • Windows 10: Right-click on Start > Control Panel > Select View by: Small Icons > Programs and Features
      • - or type 'Control Panel' in the search line on your bottom Windows toolbar.
    3. Click/highlight the relevant SDL product from the list (e.g. SDL Trados Studio 2017 SR1) and click 'Repair' either on the top toolbar or on the right-click dropdown menu.
    4. Restart Studio/MultiTerm.
If that does not work, re-post here and we can try something else.
In the meantime maybe someone with more knowledge of this issue than I will read the post and have other advice to offer.

    All the best
    Alison
