Cannot open sdlliff file VERY URGENT

Hi,

I am not able to open a file on which I was working after closing and reopening Studio 2017.

I have almost completed the translation, but I am unable to reopen the file. This is the second time I am encountering this problem.

My Studio has become very slow these days, confirming mere segment takes more than a minute to be confirmed.

How do I remedy this problem?

Regards,

Alain.

  • Hello ,

Unfortunately this error message would seem to suggest the file itself is damaged.

This can happen with overzealous AV programs or even 'CCleaner' if the machine has been left on over night or the machine shut down before the saving process is complete.
Also, as you say the system is running very slow, this may also be an indication that the the security program you are using is causing an issue. I would therefore most definitely add Studio/Multiterm to your AV whitelist.

If you have the original (docx?) file, then please create a new project in Studio-
Now open the file and 'save target as' without actually changing any of the segments or doing any translations.
If you are able to open and close the file in this manner, this normally indicates the file is not corrupt.
You can now run the file through your translation memory and complete the translation.

Should however the problem still persist (file issue) and you cannot substitute the damaged file with untranslated source documents, I think the only remaining option would be to request a new file from the client.

Please let me know if this helps.
