Confirmation of auto-propagated matches despite settings

In Options>Editor, I have explicitly de-selected the option "Auto-propagate exact matches to confirmed segments".

I have done this several times and shut down the program and restarted it.

Still, Studio has confirmed ALL of my exact matches. I now have to manually search for them and change them to the proper translation.

Is there a fix for this?

As a side note, I would like to express my extreme dissatisfaction with this version which is astonishingly marred by bugs. As if it were a beta version. Disgusted with the purchase.

  • Yes, that was de-selected as well.

However, as I see in the next reply, this would not have been applied since I attempted to do it mid-project. Horrible flaw!!!
  • Hi

Can we schedule an online call to look at what you are doing. If this is a general problem we would have every user complaining so I'd like to narrow down what is happenning and see if we can't sort this out. Please drop me an email - pfilkin@sdl.com - and we can arrange a call.

  • Hello Nico.
First I would like to say that this is not a 'flaw'. It is normal Studio behaviour. If you make a change in File -Options that affects a general feature (such as in Editor, Propagation, automation, etc.) it applies to all projects, whether existing or not yet created. If you change a setting in File - Options that can also be accessed in Project Settings, it will only affect new projects. When you change the same setting in Project Settings, it only affects that specific project. I repeat, this is not a 'flaw' but normal behaviour. The difference between Project settings and Global settings is obvious, if you take a moment to think about and understand the 'Project Concept' in Studio.

Second, you report that deselecting an option made no difference you your problem and concluded that this was a 'bug'. You then receive an explanation and admit that you mis-understood the option. Then Evzen explained the cause of the behaviour, probably related to a pre-translation batch task setting and still you asked for a solution. Nora has also offered a solution for a different aspect of automated behaviour, occurring when translations are inserted from the TM during your work.

Your original problem, as summarised by Evzen, is probably related to the pre-translation batch task, and you can access these settings as part of the project creation process; you have to keep clicking Next through the wizard until you reach batch task settings, near the end.

I recommend you spend a little exploring all the available options in Studio, both Global and Project-specific. Not all of them are obvious at first sight, but can be understood with a little thought. To take an example, look at how Evzen explained above the option you had changed and what it really means.

You might find that a large number of your 'flaws' and 'bugs' are merely Studio features that can be tuned and (de)selected to meet your needs.
    Happy hunting, Simon
