Cannot add any terms in termbase

I cannot create any new termbase for over a week. Every time I created one and then tried to add a new term, I always receive this erro message: "Sequence contains no matching element". Could you enlighten me what happen and how to solve it?

  • Hi

Take a look at this thread:

Termbase error: Sequence contains no matching element

First read the solutions Paul suggested. If they do not solve your problem, could you answer the questions that Walter asked in the above post, here in this post.

I'm not sure the above thread will help as it's a slightly different situation but it's worth taking a look.

A few questions to be able to better understand what could be causing your problem:

Can you add terms to existing termbases? Can you add terms from the MultiTerm software?

If not, do you know how to reorganise a termbase? This is done by opening opening the termbase in MultiTerm (let it update first if you haven't opened MultiTerm for a while), click on Termbase Management bottom left then select Reorganise in the top toolbar. Click through the Wizard (OK > Next > Finish > Close) then close MultiTerm.

    Further questions:

Which version of Studio and MultiTerm are you using?

Are they both the most recent version (i.e. have you allowed automatic updates to take place)? Ask here if you don't know how to find this information.

Have you noticed a Windows Update taking place before this issue arose?

Here's something you can try in case this situation has arisen since a Windows Update...

Please try running a Windows Repair of MultiTerm - and then of Studio - via Control Panel.
    1. Close all SDL applications.
    2. Open the Control Panel:
      • Windows Vista/7Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
      • Windows 8: Right-click on the screen at bottom-left corner and choose Control Panel > Uninstall a Program.
      • Windows 10: Right-click on Start > Control Panel > Select View by: Small Icons > Programs and Features.
    3. Click/highlight the relevant SDL product from the list (e.g. SDL Trados MultiTerm 2017 SR1 Desktop) and click Repair.
    4. Restart Studio/MultiTerm.
Using the above method, please repair MultiTerm Desktop, then MultiTerm Core. Then repair Studio.

I'm sure your issue can be solved. The above questions and suggestions may help. If not, don't worry, we'll find a solution...

    Hope this helps,
    All the best,
    Alison
