Studio 2019 Cannot update TM or generate target "SDL XLIFF validation error"

Hello, I use Studio 2019 with the latest update installed. After translating an Excel file, I encounter two errors when I try to generate target: "SDL XLIFF validation error at line 1547 offset 1234: The key sequence '[[a long alphanumeric sequence]]' in 'urn:oasis:names:tc:xliff:document:1.2:U_tu_segsrc_mid' Keyref fails to refer to some key. The Origin is Sdl.FileTypeSupport.Bilingual.SdlXliff.XliffFileReader.

I see the same errors when I try to update the TM as well.

I definitely need help on this one! Thanks in advance.

  • Hi

I haven't seen this for a very long time so I'm not sure this is the right solution but give it a try:

    - Open SDL Trados Studio.
    - Go to Projects view.
    - Activate the project from the project list in which the error has occurred.
    - Right-click on the project and choose Project Settings.
    - Go to File Types > SDLXLIFF > General.
    - Untick the feature Validate SDL XLIFF documents before reading.
    - Press OK to apply the changes.
    - Re-run the batch task or verification

If that fails, I'd recommend you create the project again from the original source excel, pre-translate from your TM, save the target.
