TM fields updating

Hello everyone,

I have Studio 2019 and when I update the main TM, inserting the TM fields for each project, Studio 2019 automatically overwrite the fields, deleting the previous ones. In studio 2017 I used to see also the fields of the previous project in which there were the same segment. Is there any settings I have to set? I need this option for my future projects.

Many thanks

  • Hi

Could you be more specific about which fields you are referring to? Are these custom fields you created for your TM? Perhaps you are referring to the number of fields that can be seen as the default is 3 (this was the case in 2017 as well). If that's what you mean go to File -> Options -> Editor -> Translation Results Window and change the default to something more appropriate for your needs.

  • Hello Paul,

thanks for your answer but this is not was I wanted to say. I'll try to explain it better.
I was talking about the custom fields I created for my TM, for each custom field I set the "allow multiple field" setting so I expect that in the field "Project Name" I could see more than one value, so "Project Y" and "Project X" for example. So, adding a TU with the same source and target but with different fields from a different project would overwrite the original TU fields, that's why I can only see one value;I would like to see all the "Project name" in which I used that TU. It seems that everytime I update my TM custom field, the new field overwrites the previous one and not added as "multiple field".

I hope now it is more understandble.

    Many thanks
  • Hi

Is this the same TM you used before or a new one? This setting to allow multiple field values is set in your Translation Memory settings under "Fields and Settings". Make sure that the "Allow multiple field values" is checked. If this is set up this way then when you change the field value for your project in the "Update" menu it will add the new field value instead of overwriting.

  • Hi Paul,

yes, is the same TM I used before. I confirm that the "allow multiple field values" is checked but during the Update it does not add the new field only overwriting.

    Is there any solution?
