SDL Trados Studio 2019 IDML not supported (InDesign CC 2019)

Question

Hello, 
 I've updated InDesign to the newest version (CC 2019) and now have some project which have to be translated. 
 Trados Studio 2019 can't handle the new IDML-Files. I'm getting the error: 
 Does any one know, how can I fix this?

Wheneverw e look at this with IDML files the problem seems to be sorted by preparing the project with the correct options. Make sure you have checked the unsupported versions option BEFORE creating your project. 
 
Another possible problem is using project templates from an older version of Studio... this is never a good idea. You should always recreate your project templates when you upgrade from one version to another even if they "seem" to work because they will be using older filetypes.

Have you tried checking the box to process unsupported filetypes in your filetype settings? Do this prior to preparing your project as it's too late afterwards.

 Is this the option you tried? You would need to select it before processing the files for it to take effect.

When I have seen this in the past it's always been down to users not checking the process unsupported versions option in their filetype options, or using project templates that they mistakenly attempted to bring in from previous versions of Studio. 
 
I would make absolutely certain I was using the correct filetype in the latest version of Studio you have installed and that this option was checked prior to creating your project. So if you are working with project templates check that too. 
 
If you like I can take a look at the IDML (if that's ok)... there's always the possibility something else prevents this. You can email this to pfilkin@sdl.com if it's ok ?

I found a workaround, until SDL updates the filter for IDML files: 
 - Do not uninstall InDesign 2018 when you upgrade to 2019; Adobe made some changes in the code in the latest version, and Studio no longer recognizes the IDML files created with InDesign 2019. (If you uninstalled it, you can re-download it from your account) 
 - Before creating your project, open your IDML in InDesign 2018 , and re-export the IDML (overwrite your file), and Studio will now recognize it and process it properly. 
 - After translation, simply open your IDML in the version of your choice, it should all go well. 
 I have done this since the release of InDesign 2019, and it worked every time.
