Re-import updated bilingual review file

Hi,
assume you export your segments for external review in MS Word and then import the bilingual file with tracked changes/comments. Suppose the external reviewer made additional changes to the bilingual file in MS Word and you want to re-import the updated bilingual file. As stated in SDL Trados Help "Translations in the *.sdlxliff project file are not updated with the new reviewed content if the segment has changed after you exported it for review, is locked or has a status of Signed off." The only workaround I find is rejecting the changes and comments in the SDLXLIFF file (or use the backup file), export the "clean" SDLXLIFF file for (a second) external review and (manually?) redo the changes/comments. Any hint for getting the updated review back into SDL Trados in a more efficient way?

Thanks
Detlef

  • Hi

I'm afraid there are none. The process, as you probably know, is a fairly delicate one so you need to keep to the rules as much as possible.

I suppose if you were using Post-edit compare then you could use the version control on that to revert to the older version and update that instead. That might make the process a bit easier. That would work as long as you didn't have any other changes in your project from other reviewers and then it would get a little complicated... maybe finding some way to update your TM and use Translate to Fuzzy to find the changes after updating an older version... or something like that.

The process you use now may well be the easiest solution. GroupShare and the online Editor would be better... but even then the reviewer would not be able to go back and make changes after telling you it was finished!
