Is there a way to disable the "machine translation" function in the TM results?

Hello Community!

I've noticed a new function in Trados Studio 2017 that automatically inserts new terms or removes words from a translated segment in the TM results window to match the new source segment.

Is there a way to disable this function? In the project I am working on right now, this function is creating strange ungrammatical strings, and since I have to correct these, I'd rather adapt the segments as I did before. I am more aware of concordance when I do the correction myself.

Thank you!

Ivana

  • Hi

The function you are describing is the Fuzzy Match repair, if I understand you correctly.

It is enabled by default in Editor, but you can turn it off if you'd like in Project settings > Language pairs > All language pairs > Match Repair.

This will turn it off for you for the given project.

You can also turn it off via File > Options > Language pairs > All language pairs > Match Repair, which will affect all projects.

But you can always apply the original TM match without the repair, as seen below:
Trados Studio screenshot showing the 'Apply Translation without TM Repair' option highlighted with a red arrow, indicating the function to turn off Fuzzy Match repair.

Please let me know if it solved the issue.
