Why isn't there a built-in straightforward way to align excel files by cell?!

Dear Trados Studio Developers,

I have excel files that contain source in one column and target in another column. Each target cell corresponds to exactly one source cell, row by row, all the way down the columns.

I would like to build a translation memory from these files. I've tried playing around with the segmentation settings, but the alignment results were dismal.

I've googled the problem which led me to a number of posts here on SDL*Community from others having the same problem.  None of the solutions were effectual.

I could use an outside alignment tool, but after spending several hundred dollars on Studio 19, I would rather use a built-in tool.

After spending several hundred dollars on Studio 19, I would have hoped that there would be a simple way to align excel files cell to cell. Why is this simple yet important feature absent?

If there is a simple way, why is it so hard to find?

***APPEAL TO TRADOS STUDIO DEVELOPERS: PLEASE, PLEASE, ADD AN EXCEL 'CELL TO CELL' SEGMENTATION OPTION TO THE SEGMENTATION DIALOG BOX***

Is there already a straightforward and simple way to do this? If so, would someone please explain it to me clearly and prove me to be a raving idiot?

Thank you so much.
