Show markup under track changes comes up automatically

Hi, first time here. I just downloaded te last update of my SDL 2019. Now when I use Track changes to review a document, the option "show markup" comes back up automatically as soon as I start editing, I change it to "no markup" and again it changes back to "show markup" when I edit another segment. This is very annoying, and time consuming. Any ideas of why is happening? Is this a glitch? how do I report it and get it fix? Thanks!

    Hi Salome,

    This is new behaviour in SDL Trados Studio 2019 SR1. Editing with tracked changes in No Markup mode has proven to cause often intricate problems for our users, so we decided to make this more robust and automatically switch to Show Markup mode when editing the Tracked Change. This also helps to give you more control over seeing exactly how the tracked changes look like, which can help avoid typical issues with such changes, such as in the spacing. There are keyboard shortcuts available to switch between the different markup modes, maybe these help you to quickly toggle back to No Markup mode where needed?

    I'm experiencing exactly the same problem as Salome. Unless I've completely misunderstood what Daniel is saying, this new "feature" is a total disaster. Why would there be 3 options (Show Markup, No Markup, Show Original) if only the Show Markup option works? I don't want to see highlights and strikethroughs when editing, so I really don't understand the explanation that it "give[s] you more control over seeing exactly how the tracked changes look like". Like Salome says, if you set it to No Markup, as soon as you start typing Studio just pops it back into Show Markup mode, showing all the strikethroughs you don't want to see. Could you please elaborate on what is going on here? Because as it stands, it's plain impossible to do any editing at all. Many thanks.

    Thanks for your feedback. Personally, I think it's great that you have a lot more fine-grained control over seeing what changes you are working with, and for that it's great to see the strikethroughs and insertions. The No Markup mode is a bit of a challenge as it lures you into thinking you are making these edits - but what can happen is that these edits will be incorrectly saved or represented - so I believe it's good that we have this behaviour now, as it will be more precies. At the same time, I realise how much this means to you so I'll see what we can do to address this in a future cumulative update potentially. This won't happen overnight, though. If you want to go back to the previous Studio version, you would need to uninstall it fully and then go to your account and download the previous Studio 2019 release that has now been moved under Archived Releases (oos.sdl.com/.../downloadarchive.asp).     Hi all - as a quick update, we are looking at bringing editing tracked changes back when working in No Markup mode, without automatically changing to Show Markup. We are tentatively scheduling it for a release in January. Let's watch this space I'd say - and thanks again for your feedback. Best, Daniel

    Daniel, we have submitted a ticket about this yesterday, too. We really need no markup to stay turned on during our work. We do a lot of reviews (more than elsewhere in the industry probably) and depending on how much editing we do during the review, the deletions and insertions actually are distracting and additional whitespaces or missing whitespaces may creep in, for instance. But we do want to track the changes so the translator can take a look at them after the review. Adrian Maniu already responded to our ticket and gave us the bug ID so we can follow up on this. We have asked our Trados Studio 2019 users to avoid updating to SR1 for now and 2017 users probably won't upgrade until this is fixed. We look forward to the CU in January. - Thanks.
