Failed Studio 2017 update

Hello, today upon starting Stdio 2017 I received a message warning me that an update was available and offering to install it. I went ahead with it, but after a lengthy download and install process, eventually the update failed. When the installer tried to roll back the changes carried out until that moment something went awry and now I have lost Studio 2017.

If I try to re-install from an older installer I have saved on my machine - SDLTradosStudio2017_SR1_6278 - I get the message that "Setup did not complete. The error is: Setup has detected a higher version of this product already installed. If you wish to install this version, you must remove the other version first."

Obviously, I can't find any way to remove the "higher version" or to re-run the update that failed, so I'm currently stuck. How do I get out of this situation?

Any contribution, highly appreciated.

  • Hello , your Trados is at a no-return point. You don't have the update installed but the product has not been completely uninstalled. To recover Trados you need the latest valid installer (version 38031). The current version seems to be in quarantine. You can try looking for the installer in the following path "C:\Users\administrator\AppData\Local\Tempstudio5Updates", my "administrator" folder will be different for you. In that folder should be the 38031 installer: "SDLTradosStudio2017_SR1_38031.exe". Run it and you will be able to restore your Trados. Let me know if this solution has helped you
