I have a solution.
I was having this problem for months and it was driving me crazy - in reality it still happens in about two thirds of the documents I open. As well as cut and paste not being available, concordance search doesn't actually work, and neither does undo (CTRL + Z), and find and replace is not available. Sometimes these functions suddenly become available. I haven't been able to permanently fix this, but I have discovered that by highlighting any word in Source, right clicking to bring up the menu and then clicking on concorance search, on right clicking again, everything is magically activated. Every now and then it is necessary to repeat, but it seems to work every time.

Isn't that so weird? I have the same problem, and there si nothing in my Windows 10, my MS office, my Trados and my shortcuts that isn't totally up to date. I think there must be a flaw in Trados - because it only happens since the new release. Truly annoying! The fact that it also affects concordance hints to the same source of the problem. Hopefully there is a solution VERY SOON:
Thanks Daniel. This solution is the only one which works.
Nor sure which version of Studio you are using. This thread is six years old. In Studio 2024 it looks like this:
As you can see by the segment number in the first column, this is source segment text.
