Antivirus interferes with Trados Studio

Question

Last year I installed an antivirus (Avast Bitdefender at a cost of &euro;108 per annum, not a cheap one!) but it immediately interfered with trados studio which just refused to launch. As soon as I uninstalled the antivirus, trados started working again perfectly. I tried it three times with the same result, so I uninstalled the antivirus and have been working without one since. I know this is not a good idea, but I have projects to get out. I need trados to work. Is there a recommended antivirus for Trados??

 That's a good question... I'm going to say Sophos simply because this is what we use at SDL and have thousands of people using it with Studio every day. I can't comment on the usability or effectiveness as it's all managed centrally for us.

Problems with AntiVirus (AV) is a known one, but normally quite easy to resolve. 
 
When AV interferes with installed software, then all you need to do normally, is add Studio/MultiTerm to the AV whitelist- 
 www.getavast.net/.../managing-exceptions 
 
It is also worth remembering that after a software update, you may need to add the updated versions back in to the AV whitelist.

 The paths that need to be 'excluded' are 
 C:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio5\SDLTradosStudio.exe 
 C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SDL 
 C:\Program Files (x86)\SDL 
 (and then repeat but this time for MultiTerm)

 Sorry- this was a typo on my behalf. 
 If you are using Studio 2019 then it's the 15 version you need.
