Best way to translate only certain parts of a file?

Client sometimes asks not to translate certain pages or sections of a document. I painstakingly copy the original segments to the translation segments on Studio so that those segments will remain in the original language. But this can be time consuming. Does anyone know an efficient way to leave parts of the document untranslated?

How you accomplish this will depend on the type of source file, but perhaps you can hide the text in the original source file and then it will be excluded from the translation completely?

You could also just lock these segments so they are not touched which might be a little faster than copying source to target and you could then filter on unlocked so you aren't distracted by them either. In fact if you use something like AutoHotkey you could string together key commands and use a single shortcut to copy source to target, confirm without adding to your TM and lock the segment... then you'd also get complete statistics on the file while you work.

But I think the first idea to hide the segments in the source might be easier, especially if they are specific pages, or sections of the file..
