Pdf original file with equations loses equation format after translation

Question

Hello I have received a pdf file that needs to be translated that includes a lot of mathematical equations. What I have tried is to translate a word file that has Equation Objects in it and SDL trados 2019 can make the translation and the output file is correct. It has the text part correct and the objects of equations remain intact. So now I am wondering if the same can be done with a pdf file because what I give as an input has equations like this: and what I receive in the translated file is so it ruins the format.

PDF's can always be difficult to work with and as you have found already, working with a Word file provides the results you need. 
You can try the following-

Or probably even better is to convert the PDF to Word outside of Studio and clean this up before importing in to Studio for translation or to ask the client for the original IDML or Word format.

Hi Gerasimos, 
If you can, get the file the pdf was generated from, InDesign or Word or whatever. 
Pdf is a difficult format to work with, unless all you want to do is to print or display it. My first attempt would be to use the export function of Acrobat Pro to convert it into a docx. Correct the docx where necessary and use it as a source file. Studio will export a docx of your translation anyways (thank you, Alison!).
