Cannot open *.docx target file

Hello!

I am a relatively new user of SDL Trados Studio 2017 SR1 - 14.1.6329.7 (SDL Trados Studio 2017 Workgroup).

The issue is, I have been translating a PDF source file for a few days, but now when I am about to finish it and save it as a *.docx file, I cannot open the file because Microsoft Word gives the following message:

The file (file name) cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents.

If I click on details:

The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag.

Location: Part: /word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 1194

Now, I already had this issue with another file a few weeks ago, but simply removing all tags from teh target segments solved it. Now, I have gone through every target segment, removed tags and cleared all formatting, but the issue remains.

I require the target Word file very much.

I came accorss similar threads on these forums, but the suggestions there did not seem to help me.

Would be great if someone could help me out on this issue...

  • There are two options:
Your Word file can be opened with the most recent Office version - then all is fine.
Or, what is more probable here, the content of the file is indeed causing problems. In this case you will need to retranslate the original source file using the same TM, but utilizing a different file type. At the moment you have used Word 2007-2016, so you need to deactivate this file type and activate the Word 2007-2013 file type.
Or you could upgrade to Studio 2019, where this error should not appear anymore.

However none of these articles deals with your problem directly.
