A persistant error in Trados Studio 2017: "Invalid characters in the path".

Question

Dear all, 
 I have a persistant error in Trados Studio 2017. 
 I can't open new project packages and I get the following message: "Invalid characters in the path". 
 I also updated Trados Studio and Multiterm 2017, but this error remains. 
 Today, I purchased the upgrade to Trados Studio 2019 Freelance Plus, and even to download the software is being hard. 
 The download simply doesn't go ahead&hellip; 
 Any help will be highly appreciated. I have a few projects to deliver tomorrow, and with all this mess, I can't work.

I think that there are maybe permission and/or admin right issues here. 
Are you able to copy the package (give it a slightly different name and then rename the copied package from xyz.ppx to xyz.zip then unzip the package and import the content into Studio? 
 
If so then I suspect that one or more of your security settings (AntiVirus) is not recognising the .ppx extension and would also possibly explain whey you are unable to download Studio. 
Please ensure that Studio/MultiTerm are BOTH added to your AntiVirus white list.
