Error Message: "This project already contains a source file named", what to do?

Hello,

I have created an excel file to translate via Studio2019 (Freelance Edition). However, I need to adjust a few things in the file, so I removed it from the list and made the adjustments and then tried to add it again to the project I am working on.

After I did the adjustments, I started receiving the error message "This project already contains a source file named", every time I add the file to the project.

I made sure that the source folder and the target folder do not contain that file, and they don't. So I am not sure why Studio says that it exists.

Can you please advise?

Thanks in advance!

  • Hello ,

Thank you for your help! I have indeed failed to find any answers. I will do as you advised.

    Regarding your questions:
    - I was creating that excel file and I opened it for translation. Then, I noticed that I forgot to remove a few things, so I removed the file from the project, and deleted the source and the target files in the folder of the project on my PC. Then I fixed my file and tried to add it again to the project by "add file" option, but this error kept appearing. The only solution was for me to re-name that file and add it, so Studio won't say "This project already contains a source file named <file name>", and it worked. However, I know this isn't an ideal solution because the error will reappear if I'll try to use the same file name. So I was hoping to know how to adjust files that I have already added to Studio2019 without getting this error.

    - I wasn't working on PPX and I didn't try to recreate the project.
