Error message "Impossible de traiter le document car il contient du contenu inattendu"

Good morning,

I get the above message when I try to create a project with a Word document that has been converted from a pdf by my client. I don't have the problem when I do my own conversion. I have several documents to translate and one of them is a complex document with 200 footnotes. I would like to use my client's converted file because it would save me a lot of time.

How can I identify this "unexpected content"?

Many thanks in advance,

Christine

  • Hi

Did you try saving to a different version of Word already?

Try the following, presuming you have the same versions of Word and Studio as I do:

Open the document in Word. Save as Word 97-2003 (*.doc), giving it a different name so you know which it is.

    In Studio, go to File>Options>Filetypes

If you can see Microsoft 97-2003 in the right-hand pane, untick it:

Trados Studio Options window showing File Types list with Microsoft Word 97-2003 unticked.

Then try to create a project with the .doc file to see if the change of file type sorts the problem.

If not, then, under File>Options>File Types>Microsoft 2000-2003, add the footnote mark that appears in your document, here:

Trados Studio File Types Options window for Microsoft Word 2000-2003 with an empty 'Excluded inline tags' field.

See if you can then create a project this time with the .doc file.

If you can, then it is the footnotes causing the problem.

Let's see what happens there before I suggest anything more, and  will most likely be able to contribute something more appropriate to this problem.

    All the best,

    Ali
