Hi all,
Does anyone know what the problem with the source files is if you get the 'Could not find recognizable digits" error when analyzing Word (DOCX) files in Trados? The files contain a bunch of fields, which seems the only thing out of the ordinary to me, but maybe I'm missing something.

I think this is an indication the file is corrupt.
Try opening the file in MS Word- then resave the file as .DOCX (should fix the corruption) and now reopen the file in Studio.
Has this resolved the problem?

Hi Steven, re-saving as DOCX didn't solve the problem, unfortunately. Any other suggestions?

if the problem is on the Word side of things, try saving the file in an older format (doc or rtf). Then open and save as docx. That will often clean the file. If there are elements in the file that are not supported by the legacy file type, you will lose them (careful with embedded objects etc.).
Just out of interest: Which version of Word are you using, and which version of Studio?

Hi Daniel,
We have Word 2016 and Studio 2019. The files contain a whole bunch of fields which seem important to the file's functionality, so I'm afraid downsaving them will mean the fields don't work properly anymore, but I'll try your suggestion anyway. Thanks!

No, sorry it didn't. We ended up deleting a bunch of fields from the files and that solved the problem.
