There may also be a huge difference between what PowerPoint and Studio consider "a word".

It is way too much. If we had a 10% discrepancy, it would be understandable... but I am still confused.

My point was that you get the principle and the core cause of the differences. Whether it's a Word or PowerPoint, doesn't really play a role... the principle is still the same.

Now it's up to you to look through the actual content of your file, compare it to the knowledge you gain from that article and seeing if there is something that applies.
We cannot do that for you since we don't know the content of your file.

You can also try to delete slides from your file and keep only one (or a few) and do the comparison with such limited file... and then manually investigate the cause (since the wordcount - and thus the difference to look fro - would be much lower).

The point is that what you see may not be what is actually inside the file - like e.g. the numbered bullets mentioned in Paul's article.

I printed this one slide and manually counted it, and the total was 207, the same as Studio had. There is no comments nor anything else on it. As far as I now. I wonder if one could "trick" or "cheat" word count in PPT. That is what I am looking for, some settings or parameters on PPT that might be causing it. I tried a different thing now. Opened a blank ppt and pasted the 207 word text on the box "Click here to add title" and Powerpoint showed the word count as "1 word". Then pasted the same text on the box "Click here to add subtitle" and it totaled 61 words.
