Hi.
I have an issue that is happening on a daily basis. I'll save a project in Trados Studio 2019, save project as, then close. Upon closing, I'll get the following message:
'Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.'
I can close that message but then Studio is frozen, and I have no choice but to shut it down using the Task Manager. When I restart Studio, the project I was working on has usually been deleted!
I checked the knowledge base for solutions. Although I can find other instances of this error message, none of the problems matches mine exactly. I note that some people seem to have received this error message due to a problem with their antivirus settings. I only use Windows 10's own antivirus and Superantispyware. I added Trados Studio to the latter's safe list properly, but my problem continues.
Some solutions focus on restarting Studio. In my case, Studio is frozen after I click the message away. The project isn't always there when I force Studio to shut down and then reopen it.
I found another possible solution in the knowledge base, which centred on changing the settings for the TMs associated with the project. This involved unchecking some boxes and then clicking on 'Recompute Fuzzy Index Statistics' and 'Re-index Translation Memory' under Performance and Tuning in the TM's settings. The first TM associated with the project on which the problem has happened most recently is my main TM (12 years' worth of projects). The recompute didn't take long, but the re-indexing looked like it was going to take forever, and I'm not prepared to leave the software doing something for 24 hours that might not even be the appropriate fix (or might cause other problems).
Hence I'm looking for some advice based on the specific circumstances under which I'm receiving this error message. Unfortunately I haven't been able to work out yet why the problem doesn't occur with every single project, nor why these crashes sometimes cause a whole project to be deleted and in other cases the project is still in Studio when I load it up again.
Advice appreciated!
