Hi Gerti,

as you are reading segment by segment, you could give a certain segment status to those segments you want to update your TM with. Then you go to the TM settings and mark only that status to be updated.

PS: I still hope there will be a feature to mark segments in future. So one could use that to change all segments in one step, but for now you would have to do it one by one.

Thank you for your reply. This method may be a little tricky as the document is huge (3000 segments) and in most cases I don't need to make any changes to the translation, i.e. the status stays unchanged. And a lot of segments are locked as well, so I would need to unlock them first and then lock them again, which I fear may get a little messy.

Does anybody have any other ideas?

if you have to deliver them again in the same status "locked/unlocked", yes, that might me tricky. If not, you may lock all segments and use all the unlocked segments then.

The question is, WHICH segments do you want to keep in your TM? Do you decide during translation on how you like the segment or would you want to keep only segments changed by you?

If you want to decide from segment to segment, I think there is no other way than in any way mark those segments. And as there is not "marking function", you have to give those segments a special identifiere, like locked/unlocked or a certain segment status.

If you want to keep the segments only that you have changed, you can add you TM and during proofreading mark only your TM to be updated.

Maybe someone else has a better idea, but can you specify a little more on what you exactly need?

I see absolutely no problem in creating a copy of the SDLXLIFF(s) just for the purpose of updating the TM, where you can manipulate the statuses as you wish, without affecting the production file(s) which should be handed back...

I think Evzen's suggestion may be a solution. In reply to your question, Burim, as I go through the text, I sometimes come across phrasings which I would like to put in the TM - these could be in segments to which I make changes, or segments which don't need a change. I don't want to put the whole translation into my TM (both because it would be too big, and also because there might be copyrights issues).

Evzen: Could you please tell me how to create a copy of the SDLXLIFF and use it for updating the TM?

One other idea: If I attached my TM at the end of the revision process (after all segments have been confirmed), and then just confirmed again those (already confirmed) segments which I would like to put into the TM, would they be put in the TM?
