Hi Luiza,

SDLXLIFF is valid XLIFF 1.2.  But perhaps, one thing you can try is making sure you have this option checked BEFORE you create yor project:

Some systems are not capable of dealing with this and it adds additional information to the SDLXLIFF (still valid under 1.2) that they may not be dealing with appropriately.  You might need to recreate your project and pre-translate from your TM to achieve this.

Thank you very much for your answer and suggested solution. I did what you suggested, saved the new .sdlxliff file, modified the file extension name to .xlf, and then sent the new file to the customer.

I will keep you posted on the outcome when they let me know whether it worked for them this time.

Unfortunately this will not change anything. Your SDLXLIFF file is not affected by the settings in the file type for XLF.

This works that way:

Studio reads a new file and applies the file type suitable for that particular file, like DOCX for Word 2007-2019 or PPTX for Powerpoint and so on. At this stage the source file is being converted against the proper file type to Studio's internal format SDLXLIFF. This is the format you are working with within Studio. When you are ready, you will save your target file. Then Studio will produce exactly the same format as at the beginning.

So to have XLF as final product, you MUST start with XLF. If you start with DOC, the final product will be DOC. The only exception is PDF, as this will internally be converted to DOCX, so when you start with PDF, you will get DOCX in result.

If you want to apply changes to your current project, you must do this via project settings. However, changing file type settings within an existing project will not affect what has been read. This is already there and to change for example what shall be or not be translated, you have to recreate your project with modified settings. You can only influence what will be produced in target, when you change the file type settings for already converted SDLXLIFF files.

This may sound complicated, but unfortunately you need to understand how Studio works to be able to efficiently deal with it.
