How to mark target text in color like "highlighter" feature in MS Word?

Hi,

Is it possible to highlight target text like "highlighter" feature/marker in MS Word in Trados Studio? I didn't find any feature or tool for that in the Studio. I should highlight some segments and modify them when I finish all segments and back to highlighted segments to fix them. Highlight in color (mostly in yellow color) would be a great thing to find the segments that need to change and modify easily. Is it possible to create highlighter marker without any plugin, just with SDL Trados Studio capabilities? also, I wonder why SDL Trados Studio doesn't have this feature as a button.

Best,

Masoud

  • Hello

By default it is available in Studio, however, to keep track of segments you could use comments for example. Are you familiar with this functionality, have you used it before?
Highlight and right-click the terms / segment you would like to add a comment to:
Trados Studio screenshot showing the right-click context menu with 'Add Comment' option highlighted in blue.

Then it will be visible with a light yellow background, and if you hover over it with the mouse you will see the note added:Trados Studio interface with a segment highlighted in light yellow indicating a comment has been added, with the comment visible on mouse hover.

Alternatively, there is an app called Wordbird which offers a highlighting tool:

Though I have not used it myself so cannot comment on how this works.

Hope you'll find this helpful. Let me know in case you have further questions.

    Best wishes,
    Greta

  • Hi Greta,

Great! Add Comment feature is cool; didn't know it works for highlighting task as well. I hope in next version, the Studio will bring highlighting feature with multi-color support (I guess it would be nice and helpful to highlight some text with one color and some of them with another one for some purposes, e.g, red ones are important text, and orange less important to check or whatever). But currently, I'm comfortable with the Add Comment feature and helps me to mark those text I need to give them color for next checking out easily. Thank you, Greta!

    Have a nice time!
