I am having the same problem and online chat persons are not available. What should I do? I have to complete a translation today and I am still unable to install the trial version. The reason I must install it is that my client has sent me a package that includes Italian which is not included in my Trados languages (I have Studio 2017). As I cannot add the 6th language I guessed the only way for me to translate

the file would be to install Studio 2019 trial. And I am unable to do it. I have Windows 10. Could you possibly send me the direct link please?

I talked to somebody using the link you gave. They sent me a direct download link right away. I downloaded the trial version today, managed to install it but I cannot use it because I got this message "trial period expired (26) however I only downloaded it today. What should I do now?

Have you ever downloaded and installed the trial version of 2019 before?  If you have then you won't be able to do it again even if you uninstalled the previous one.

Coming back to this... you could simply reset 2017 and select your languages again.  

You could use this app for the reset and this will also explain what you will lose by carrying out a reset before you do it:

appstore.sdl.com/.../

But if you'd rather do this manually then rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio:

c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0

So the path would become this:

c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0_old

If you can't find this folder then you need to unhide your hidden files/folders:

Or, if you're feeling brave like this.  

• Close Studio.
• Hold down the windows key and press R. (or right click the start/windows button and select Run).
• For Studio 2017 paste in this:

• Press ok.
• Restart Studio.

Thank you for your reply. I have never installed 2019 trial before.

That's why it's weird. The only trial version i have ever installed was 

Studio 2017 (I installed it before buying the 2017 version). 

I am afraid of resetting the programme, so I guess the only option

is to uninstall and reinstall the programme. I work with 7 languages and

the 5 language restriction is an obstacle, really. Buying the corporate

version would be too expensive. 

Well, I try uninstalling and reinstalling the programme.

Hi Paul,

Now I uninstalled and reinstalled Suite 2017 but it still doesn't

let me configure 5 new languages. It automatically uses the ones

used for my previous installation and I cannot do anything with my Italian package...

My deadline has expired but it seems to me that I can never

change the 5 languages no matter how many times I uninstall and

reinstall the programme. 

There must be a way to change languages though...

It seems you have not actually tried to do either of the solutions I gave you.  Reinstalling won't help.  You either need to reset, or edit the registry as I explained above.

You need to install the app and then when you hover over each location that can be reset you'll get an explanation:

There are also some images in the appstore showing exactly the same thing.

I used the Fresh Start but even this didn't help.

Trados still doesn't give me an option to change the 5 languages.

Now I have tried everything... Does it really mean that I will

never be able to change the languages?

Did you try the registry fix yet and on which version are you attempting this?

It is of course possible to change the languages, but it's not made simple because the product is designed to support five languages for the version you have and the restriction is on purpose.

Finally. This option worked. Using the Fresh start app didn't work.

Yes, and - to my best knowledge - this is the ONLY way to make Studio to let you select the 5 languages again.
None of the options in SDL FreshStart can do it (if it did, it would not be very smart from SDL).
