Assuming you know what you were looking for in an SDLXLIFF (and assuming this is the file you opened as you didn't say) try checking the sdlproj file instead.  It may be that the project file is the one with the problem and not the SDLXLIFF.

You might also find copying the SDLXLIFF to another location and then opening it as a new single file translation will help you resolve te problem, especially if the issue is in the SDLPROJ, or even in the projects.xml.

Thank you for your answer Paul. I did erase the sdlproject which was created along with the xliff as this solution solved a problem in the past, and it did not work either.

And I saved also the xliff on my desktop and try to reopen it, still not working.

I retrieved part of my work in the TM, which did not save the first 50 segments, so I created a new document and continued from this segment, hoping to figure out how to find these missing segments (or open the previous xliff).

I don't know what is projects.xml. The original document is in word format, so the name of the xliff is .docx.

Merci Daniel. Nothing appears in the Notepad++ window when I opened the document, I could only see "nul nul nul nul nul..." at the first line, and making a search did not do anything.

And I only deleted the sdlproject, which I don't know what it is...

When you open an SDLXLIFF file in Notepad++ it should surely start with something like this: 

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><xliff xmlns:sdl="http://sdl.com/FileTypes/SdlXliff/1.0" ...

Which document did you open in Notepad++?

The xliff SDL studio wouldn't open because of the error. I first launched Notepad++, and from there open the document. I only see a blank page with nul nul nul nul

Sounds to me like you are opening the Word document with Notepad++.

You have to open the sdlxliff document in the target language folder with Notepad++.

Go to the project folder, then to the folder with the target language, whatever that is in your case. In that folder you should find a document with your file name, ending on ".docx.sdlxliff" This is what you want to open with Notepad++.

The first line should start with <?xml... and so on. If not, send a screenshot of the first bit of the file.

Daniel, here is the screenshot of the xliff document with the error that I'm trying to open  (named: Greentek Website Text Engold.doc). The project doesn't exist anymore..
