Yes, this is possible via 'Export Profile Settings', which creates an .sdlprofile file that you can use between computers

Does the saving process includes the situation of the windows or panels in the UI layout or just about saving the settings? Of course, my question is about saving of settings, not exporting UI layout and window positions, but I'd like to save the position of the windows. for example, I'd like to have "Termbase Viewer" on the left side while Auto Hide is off to see it my termbase list.

The profile settings do include those sort of details, yes.

Here's what the documentation says about this:

SDL Trados Studio stores all your settings and preferences inside a user profile.

All specific project settings (for example, selected language pairs, translation memories, termbases, AutoSuggest dictionaries, automated translation providers, file types, translation memory settings, batch processing settings) are stored inside each project folder.

These settings are retained even when you upgrade to a new version. There will be new settings that aren't included or maybe a setting will be changed by a major update, it's not foolproof but most of your customisation will be included.

As far as I can tell, this doesn't actually work in practice. I just exported my settings on one computer, on which I'd removed the "Correct TWo Initial CApitals" option, then imported it on another computer, only to find that option was still selected. I repeated this, in case I did something wrong, and the same happened. I imported by going to Manage User Profiles, then "Change user profile", then browsing to find the file I'd exported. Unless I'm doing something wrong, it doesn't work as intended.

If someone from tech support wants to look into this I can send the profile file.

Have you exported the auto correction settings too? These are NOT integrated in the user profile, but stored language based. You can export udn import them via File -> Options -> Editor -> Auto correct.

Thanks. That did sort out the Auto-correct settings, but there are still lots of missing settings. For instance, I don't have any of my language pairs any more. I'm just going to bite the bullet and copy each setting one by one from one computer to another.

Language pairs are project templates. And there is a good advice NOT to import these from older versions. So indeed the best will be to create new projects and store these as templates.

I wasn't importing from an older version. It was the same version. File Type settings are another thing that wasn't imported. There is a separate export/import option for them, but it seemed like I had to export and import for every file type I wanted to change.

If you just move from one PC to another, copy project templates from the old to new one and import these in Studio. Project templates contain the settings for file types and language pairs.
