Cannot reach the TM settings. I reset the computer, did an installation repair, but still get the same error message. The Editor works, but this is a large project and I am afraid it will crash in the middle.

I can't connect to the TMs any more, which means I may have to redo the project. This may involve a lot of work in a huge project with lots of customizations, locked segments and merged paragraphs!
Amazingly, after rebooting the computer a second time, the TM has magically reconnected, and I'm holding my breath... so far so good...
I'm not checking any settings...
Just in case you have the TM on a shared drive somewhere (dropbox, googledrive, onedrive etc.) try moving it to your local computer (remove from yor project and add it again after moving it of course). This sort of error can occur when you don't have a stable connection and you use a location like this.

My TMs are all on a local drive and I never had anything like this before.

Did you change the segmentation rules or any other resources in the TM perhaps? Sometimes there is simply no good reason for it at all!

Yes. Also, my Variables list, although appearing in the Lang. Resources were not recognized and I fiddled a lot with this setting, as it would have been particularly useful in this project. What I did was create a new project, based on the same template, eliminate a language variant that seemed to be interfering, and then I updated the project template. When I reopened the initial work project, things seemed to be OK.
That may have triggerred the problem. Studio doesn't handle updates to TM settings very well and it's always worth restarting Studio after making changes like this.

Follow-Up
After I finished this project, in which I did not dare change any settings at all of even click on them, I could not create a new project at for a different job, so deleted the three setting files in the installation folder. Fortunately, I found a saved user profile I never remember I had, so I avoided the pain.
The new project was created normally. Now I'm trying to understand why the variables fimctopm did not work and, hopefully fix this issue, which may save me a huge amount of time in large repetitive files with lots of names.
