Way to kill productivity. The whole point of using Trados is to save time, not waste it.

Or I would just use Ms Office (where dead keys work). And since dead keys work on Trados on my other computer, it’s evidently a bug, so there is probably a fix. I guess I’ll have to reinstall it, but there is no guarantee it will work better.

May I know what keyboard layout are you using? For instance, ENG INTL "United States International Keyboard"? That's the one I always use. With that layout you can quickly type (with the 'dead key' plus the corresponding vowel or letter) in Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, etc. Are you using Windows 10? Sometimes, a 'problem' within SDL Studio is just a matter of modifying some parameters for the operating system. No need to reinstall. By the way, very rarely one needs to reinstall a software package, unless it is a buggy one. Other times, you just need to restart Studio, seldom you need to restart Windows.

I use a bépo layout. I managed to find an alternate driver that allow the use of dead keys in Trados (and other software that have a problem with dead keys). I just assign a different driver for each application.

Windows 10 (and since Windows 95) will take care of anybody's typing needs, in any language. The bépo layout you mention is probably a godsend to many a French translator or writer, but my point is Windows 10 has already taken care of that. The ENGL INTL layout is also good for all romance languages using mostly two keystrokes to type characters like á, é, í, ó, ú, à, è, ì, ò, ù, ã, õ, â, ê, î, ô, ä, ë, ï, ö, ü, ñ, ç, ß, etc. Please note that I, a touch typist, can type the previous characters without even looking at the keyboard. It's amazingly useful and practical. And how do you switch between layouts? Very simple. Just press the Windows key and the space bar. Why reinvent the wheel? 

That’s totally besides the point. I won’t be dragged into that debate.
