When/if you remove a file from Studio- this does not delete the file from your PC- but merely removes it from Studio.

To actually delete the file, another action must have happened on your actual PC/within the folder structure.

Where are the files stored?  Locally or on a server?

Are you using a specific project folder or the default folder in Studio?

Do you leave the PC running (sleep) or close it down each day?

I also thought it was not deleted locally but the thing is I can t find it anymore in the original file

The issue encountered was with a tag and I could not open it anymore so I wanted to remove it from the file list in the project and re-add it manually

The file was in a project,I am using a specific folder

I do usually let the PC run (laptop) and I am saving everything on a SSD external drive synchronised with dropbox

the issu with the file was a saving issue, maybe corrupted as I am saving on SSD but not sure anymore

When you are deleting a file in a project in Studio, the file indeed will be deleted from your hard disk (without landing in the Recycle Bin).

Here, I am in the target language view. If I delete the file from here, it will be deleted from under the target language (and from the target language subfolder in the project folder):

Like so:

But will be still there under the source language (Spanish in this case):

So I can prepare it again for translation.

However, if I delete the file from this view, in the Source language view, it will be fully removed from the project, from the target AND source folders of the project folder too.

So in this case the file has to be added to the project again.

This is exactly right. It happened to me more than once and I even posted a comment here by that time. All you have to do, before deleting files from within Studio, is to make copies of the originals. Otherwise, you will have to use a third party tool to undelete your file(s) because, as Greta said, the file(s) is/are not even in the Recycle Bin (!)
