Terminology database. Term recognition

Hello,

My primary client is an UN agency, which send and update regularly the TMs and the TBs. I have serious problems with the interface with the terminological database: the terms are not recognized. If I search them, it works.

I have done the obvious things (ckecking Project Settings; checking the termase in Multiterm; reorganizing the termbase).

My client send the termbases by Dropbox. Could I associate a Dropbox based TB to my projects without downloading it to my computer? Should I open this TB to my Dropbox? Could it be a solution?

Many, many thanks for your answers.

Paula

  • Hello ,

There are quite a number of variables as to why this might or might not work.

It would be good to understand which versions of Studio and Multiterm both you are and your client are using and whether you are on the latest updates of each (if not this can cause the problems described).

You can use a TB that is stored on DropBox/cloud storage, but there are limitations depending on the many factors such as an uninterrupted and reliable Internet connection (which even today is unfortunately not guaranteed for most users).

Also - you must ensure that Studio/MultiTerm is whitelisted in your AntiVirus provider.

What happens if you download the TB to your local machine? Does this work now?

  • Dear Steven,

Thank you for your answer. I have a very good Internet connection, so I would be able to use the TB stored on Dropbox. Please, could you tell me how to do that? I tried but I was not able to find the way.

The client and I we are using the same Studio and Multiterm versiones (2019).

I have no problems with other TB sent by other clients. It is only wiht this one. So, there is no problem with my AntiVirus.

I have downloaded the TB in my machine. It does not work.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Best,

    Paula
