Thank you, this sounds like an easy solution but unfortunately, not in my case. My languages are German and English, and there are no Asian characters, neiter in the termbase name nor in the folder. Funnily enough, this always happens with an updated termbase one specific customer sends me with every new project. What I do is, I always rename the termbase (also the friendly name!), and save it in my Trados folder. And then I cannot connect it to the project. But, like I said, I sometimes can, by coincidience, a few days later. So, usually, the first few days of the project, I “fly blind“, as it were … And: This also happened with a termbase I created myself from scratch last summer. So it cannot be this particular customer's fault, nor can it be the fault of any Asian characters. Very strange indeed ... Any other ideas ...?

I'd start looking for things that might be different.  So are the new termbases stored somewhere else compared to your old one?  Maybe on a cloud drive, or an external drive somewhere?  Are there any diacritics in the path to these new termbases that are not there in your old ones?  Does the friendly name contain any diacritics?

Thank you for trying to help me.But no, all my databases are stored in the same folder named Trados (so, no diacritical characters). This folder is in my desktop (no external drive, no cloud). There are no diacritics in any path names, folder names, termbase names, either. Because neither of my languages (English and German) use any diacritics.

Any other ideas ...?

Hello, unfortunately I am experiencing the same problem (error message) as Stephanie Roth. I am wondering if you have ever managed to come up with a solution?

Paul Filkin was very helpful, we did have a long remote session. But unfortunately, he did not find any solution either.

In the meantime, the situation here is as before: Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I have a suspicion, though … Can you try the following: Shut down your computer. Restart it. Do not start any applications or programs or software whatsoever. Now start Studio, and only Studio.

Can you add your termbase now?

Oh dear, so in the end it was all about diacritics.. My ever so HELPFUL & PROFESSIONAL SDL approved reseller discovered via a remote session that:

- although all Trados related files where stored in the folder called 'Trados', termbases were stored in subfolders containing diacritics in the subfolder names..
