Translation memory not saving confirmed DeepL results

Hi there,

I successfully insalled and used the DeepL plugin in my 2019 Trados Studio and already translated a document using a combination of my TM and DeepL. I confirmed my finished results and updated my TM. Unfortunately, when I entered a new document with almost 90% identical text, Trados is not showing me the TM matches, as it usually does. I'm wondering if Trados does not save DeepL results in the TM?

Thanks for any advice!

Kind regards,

Maureen

  • If you have confirmed your translation it will be sent to your TM.  It doesn't matter where it originated from.  So we need t look at what else you have not told us that might elp find the source of your problem... things like:

    1. are you adding your translations to a TM that is different to the one you are checking?  It happens!
    2. are you using a Project TM perhaps... related to 1.
    3. are you not confirming DeepL results and relying on a TM update batch task afterwards?  In which case they will all be draft and you either tell the update to include them or you confirm them first.
    4. Are you checking interactively and just not seeing them when you add them because of Lookahead perhaps?  In which case you should find they are added if you work thorugh 4 or 5 segments and then go back and check the previous ones.  Lookahead caches the results and can give you a fale impression of what's really happened wrt your TM

  • Hi Paul, first off, thanks for answering so quickly! :)

Going through your list of potential problems, I can't detect the problem, I'm afraid. I tested another document, however, and ran through the same steps as the previous document, and the results from DeepL were indeed added to my TM. So, I can only conclude it was due to the document settings. I only translate on a single-document basis and use and update one central TM (with one language pair). It's all rather bizarre! I'll keep an eye on your points above. In the meantime, fingers crossed it doesn't pop up again.

    Cheers, Maureen
