Target comments in xlf file converted to source comments following conversion to target format

Hi everyone,

I noticed something a little strange earlier this week. We'd translated a Transifex XLIFF (.xlf format) in Studio (as a project). Our translator had added various queries as Studio comments in the SDLXLIFF as usual. I had answered some - i.e. I used the Edit comment feature to add a reply to her. I also added my own comments. I then saved and converted back to target format, with these comments left in the SDLXLIFF, using the Finalise batch task. It then transpired that the inclusion of the comments (which came through into the target xlf as 'notes') could cause problems, so I returned to the project to delete all comments and re-generate a clean xlf (i.e. without comments).

However, it was at this point that the 'Edit comment' and 'Delete target comment' buttons were grayed out, but the 'Delete all target comments' button was 'available' - yet clicking it did not do anything. I noticed that actually, all the comments (some 90 odd in number) were showing as 'Source' comments. This was wrong as they should have all been 'Target' comments. In any case, I figured that's why I couldn't delete them. I solved it by reverting to the original file from the translator, where comments were showing correctly as target. This then allowed me to delete all target comments (and the other 2 buttons were also no longer greyed out) and then generate a clean target file.

Because I managed to edit comments fine before the Finalise task, I can only assume it was that that caused the target comments to be re-defined as source comments. Is it a bug? Or am I doing something wrong?

Best wishes,

Gemma
